It started with an invite to an anti-Thanksgiving dinner. My friend Matt (mwofforddesign.com) had moved into a new apartment that year and had started calling it Das Club Haus. After accepting the invitation for dinner,

I received a menu he had created, and at the top was a simple:

"Hey, that's pretty cool," I told him. I had recently been teaching myself Adobe Illustrator and picked up an interest in typography.

"You should make it a logo for me," Matt said.

​

Well alright then.

​

I asked for the font he had used and got to work. 

​

My first instinct was to play with the arrangement of each word instead of having it be one continuous line. I tried a few options.

Still no. Definitely need to keep the line weight consistent.

Better, but still not great. I like the extended h, but I kind of wish the u and the h were directly on top of each other. Maybe that idea would work with the a in das and the c in club? And I don't like how the u isn't completely symmetrical in the first place. And the s could use some work...
